![]() W.I.R.E.S (Wildlife Information and Rescue Service) Far South Coast branch is a wildlife rescue group on the Far South Coast of NSW. It is a small branch of the WIRES organization which is the largest wildlife rescue group in Australia. It is a nonprofit and voluntary organization which has many volunteer rescuers, carers and veterinarians who rehabilitate and release sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife. WIRES rescuers and carers are issued a license from the National Parks and Wildlife service of NSW. The Far South Coast branch of WIRES have committee meetings and also carers meetings to set standards and also to monitor animal rescue and care. All WIRES volunteers have to attend a compulsory introductory training course and some carers also attend specialist courses for animals such as reptiles, raptors, flying foxes, macropods etc. We constantly have a need for new WIRES carers in this area as we have many native animals with the need for rescue and care. Over 90% of WIRES funding comes from public donation, 10% comes from grants from National Parks & Wildlife and also the NSW Department of Agriculture. Any other donations would be gratefully received.
