ForestryThe timber industry is one of the oldest in the region. However today there are only a few local sawmills. Timber is logged from state forests and these days taken elsewhere for processing.
The forestry department currently controls vast areas of eucalypt forests around in the region. Most of these are very attractive and some have pockets of old growth forests where the more majestic older trees tower over you and reflect the true beauty of a forest.
If you wish to experience the true grandeur of the pristine native forests of the region with their characteristic diversity of plant and animal life, our National Parks are also close by.
