Bega Sapphire Coast
Bega is this region's commercial and government centre and hosts a major rural business district. Many local, state and commonwealth government offices service the region from here.
The main industries in the district are dairying, timber and tourism. Bega Cheese is widely known throughout Australia and a visit to the factory is a must for the visitor.

Many visitors enjoy the beautiful beaches in the cooler months as well and some of the activities accessible from Bega are even more enjoyable outside the summer heat. Bushwalking, horseriding, fishing, golf or visits to the nearby towns and villages (such as Candelo, Kameruka, Bemboka and Wolumla) are pastimes that are enjoyable throughout the year.
In winter of course, Bega's proximity to the Snowy Mountains encourages a regular weekend exodus to the skifields. In Spring, there are times when the warm spring sunshine on the coast is enough to tempt a surfer in the morning and 2 1/2 hours later, Spring skiing can still be enjoyed.
Festivals, rodeos and carnivals through the year provide many additional highlights for the visitor.
