TUROSS HEAD![]()
A slender piece of land juts into the blue Pacific to form Tuross Head between the twin lakes of Tuross and Coila. The special town of Tuross perches on this picturesque headland and the drive along this isthmus into the town is one of the most scenic sights anywhere along the coast. The first settler to make Tuross home was our pioneer, Hector McWilliam whose main legacy to the future of this magical spot was the planting of his favourite Norfolk Island pines, which still grace the area today. Tuross has remained a small coastal hideaway for many years and its charm keeps its discoverers coming back for many happy returns. The town is situated approximately midway between Batemans Bay and Narooma and is conveniently central to all of the natural and commercial attractions of the Eurobodalla Coast and beyond.
The scenery around this area has to be seen to be believed. A backdrop of blue mountains to the west, a myriad of glistening blue waterways of lakes and rivers, clean golden beaches and the Pacific Ocean stretching to the east will give your eyes a visual feast like none you've encountered before. Enjoy our bushwalks, swimming, surfing, diving, and of course fishing in lakes, from the beach or rocks or out to sea. You can hire a boat for a memorable cruise or fishing trip on the lakes. Tuross oysters are another wonderful surprise for visitors and you can enjoy them at several locations around the town.
