The Snowy Mountains offers many fantastic resorts where you can enjoy worldclass skiing facilities and accommodation. The four highest peaks in Australia are in the Snowy Mountains and so is the best snow. There are over 230 kilometres of groomed trails from beginners to championship and cross country skiing is also a delight here. The resorts are within our famous Kosciusko National Park. Our season officially runs from mid June until early October but often Mother Nature and snowmaking facilities extends this for months. Private and group lessons are available from hundreds of instructors. Many of our patient instructors are from other snowfield countries and because our southern hemisphere winter coincides with their summer, they enjoy the best of skiing year long. All budgets are catered for with our wide range of accommodation. Apres-ski entertainment is diverse with top billing stars regular visitors to the Snowys. Your appetite will also be well looked after by a good range of eateries and cuisines. Our world famous snowfield resorts are Perisher Valley and Smiggin Holes, Thredbo, Charlotte Pass, Guthega, Mount Selwyn and Mount Blue Cow. Perisher/SmigginsThese twin resorts provide a variety of slopes to suit the beginner right through to the downhill racer. Here you'll find Australia's highest ski runs and 120 kilometres of groomed trails. Our longest run is 2 kilometres.Thirty lifts can carry 30,000 skiers per hour and we have over 150 instructors including children's ski schools at both resorts. Day parking is available from 7am - 7pm plus an area open 'til midnight for those wanting to enjoy the nightlife. A free shuttle bus operates between the resorts. Very helpful ticket offices and information centres offer friendly bookings and advice. Both villages offer wide ranges of hire and shopping including groceries, restaurants, bars, boutiques and ski shops. Medical centres, bank agencies, churches, post office and newsagents are also found here and childminding is available. Slopes available: 30% beginners, 60% intermediate and 10% advanced | MAP | ThredboAt the foot of Mount Crackenback, Thredbo is a re-creation of a European Alpine village. More than a resort, Thredbo is a living village which will charm you with its storybook atmosphere.International events are held here each winter and we have an FIS approved, downhill racecourse. Thredbo was host to the World Cup Ski Races in 1989. Thredbo boasts Australia's longest ski run - the fantastic Funnelweb which is over 3km long. 17 lifts carry more than 11,000 skiers per hour, giving access to 70km of trails, while 50 happy instructors are ready to guide you at all levels. Friday Flat is our area purpose-developed for beginners and has its own facilities including ski school, hire and restaurants etc. A large snowmaking system supplements existing natural cover when necessary. In the village Thredbo offers a post office, banks, newsagent, chemist, boutiques, eateries, supermarket, butcher etc. Pools, saunas, spas, bars, restaurants, disco and other night spots are all there for your enjoyment. Also available are tennis courts and a golf course though it is not generally playable in winter. The only access to Charlotte Pass during winter is over snow and connections to the resort are available by snowcat.Charlotte offers 5 lifts to 10km of groomed slopes for beginner to advanced and our ski school has around 10 friendly instructors. Our longest ski run is 1.5km. Accommodation is at the Kosciusko Chalet, Australia's highest licensed hotel which has a great apres ski-life. Major lifts are only 100m away from the Chalet. | MAP | GuthegaGuthega is a smaller resort but with plenty of facilities including a ski centre which houses ski shop and hire, ticket sales, lockers, coffee shop and more.This resort is situated beneath the slopes of Mt Twynam, Australia's third highest peak. Take in the views to Mount Kosciusko and the legendary Snowy River. We have 9 lifts and slopes for all standards from wide gentle, beginners' slopes right through to the internationally accredited giant slalom Parachute Run. Our ski school is staffed by caring qualified Aussie and international instructors. The only accommodation is at the friendly Guthega Lodge though day trippers are most welcome. Slopes available: 30% beginners 60% intermediate 10% advanced | MAP | Mount SelwynA day ski resort, Mt Selwyn is one of the newest ski areas in the Snowy region and the only resort in the northern end of Kosciusko National Park.13 lifts take you to 11km of groomed trails catering for beginners to intermediate level. Snowmaking facilities are used as needed. A large carpark for cars and coaches is maintained for your convenience. Mt Selwyn has an ideal beginners area and friendly ski school and offers an extensive hire and ski shop, lockers and a restaurant with breathtaking views. A bistro and bar are also available. Mt Selwyn specialises in arranging budget holidays for families and groups with accommodation available at nearby Adaminaby, Cooma, Talbingo or Tumut. Slopes available: 40% beginners 48% intermediate 12% advanced | MAP | Mount Blue CowThis newer resort is located between Perisher and Guthega and can only be arrived at by boarding the Skitube. No accommodation, no cars, no traffic ... just a great skiing location.We have 4 quad and 1 double chairlifts with an uphill capacity of 11,200 skiers per hour. Our longest run is from the top of Pleasant Valley to the bottom of The Ridge, a distance of nearly 4km. Plenty of local and international instructors eagerly await the opportunity to show you the pleasures of skiing. The Skitube terminal building at the top of the mountain houses the station, ticket office, ski school, bars and restaurants etc. Here you can also hire your ski equipment which means not having to get it there yourself. Slopes available: 40% beginners 40% intermediate 20% advanced | MAP | Our Famous Fantastic SkitubeThis is a wonderfully convenient and economic way to access our resorts. This rail and tunnel system transports you to Perisher, Smiggins, Guthega and Mt Blue Cow resorts through the beautiful scenery of our Kosciusko National Park.Board at Bullock's Flat Terminal, twenty kilometres from Jindabyne on the Alpine Way. Trains leave a few times an hour and carry 900 people. At this terminal there is free day and overnight parking for thousands of cars and buses. Our handy ski hire next to the boarding area saves you lugging gear around.
