 2008 Cairns Black Marlin Season - book now! Heavy tackle fishing! The Ultimate II operates out of Cairns during the the Black Marlin season which runs from September to early December. Each year these giant fish migrate the 150 miles between Cairns and Lizard Island and this area is recognised as providing the very best heavy tackle fishing in the world. Cairns 2007 Report... In August 2007, the Ultimate II left Batemans Bay and headed north approximately 1400 miles for an adventure chasing the Black Marlin off Cairns. Our biggest catch was estimated at 1200lb with others around the 1000lb mark. We had a very successful Lizard Island Tournament, being placed in the top ten boats! Ultimate II will be heading north again in August 08 so come and join us for a great experience off the far north coast of Queensland.
