Val Saunders ...... Australian Aboriginal Traditional Artist Val Saunders - In her own words My name is Val Saunders and I live on the Far South Coast in the beautiful Batemans Bay. I have been painting for the past five years. In 1992 I decided to do an Art and Crafts course with the C.E.S.; before that time I had never held a paint brush. The course lasted for 8 weeks and is the only art training I have ever undertaken. Since that time I have painted continuously. Many people from all over the place have bought my paintings. I don’t know why. Much of my inspiration comes from the environment and dreams. I work in the field of Aboriginal education which I believe is a major priority for my people. I live with my mother, Great Aunt and two sons. Both my sons are extremely talented individuals in the area of art. With each and every painting I paint, its conception begins in my soul, the heart of my Aboriginality.   BACK
