Couria Creek is a truly unique property, comprising 36 tranquil acres of pastures and bushland nestled in the foothills of Mt Dromedary at Tilba Tilba on the far south coast of NSW.
Operating as a small working farm with alpacas, cattle, donkeys, geese and poultry, we have achieved a delicate balance between farmlife and the preservation of this superb natural environment.
Drifts of magnificent tree ferns line the approach to Couria Creek and tall ironbarks stand atop the ridge.
Guests are invited to wander the property at will, meander along the creek or picnic in a secluded glade while the bellbirds flit overhead. Couria Creek is a birdwatcher's paradise, with soaring Wedge-tailed Eagles, majestic White-bellied Sea Eagles and Whistling Kites, laughing Kookaburras, Sacred Ibis, colourful King Parrots, Rosellas and Galahs, Noisy Friarbirds and Wattlebirds, Eastern Spinebills, Yellow Robins and delicate Silvereyes, Thornbills and many more.
Over 85 species have been observed on the property alone, with wetland areas close by supporting many other species. Also, possums have made their homes in the trees near the cottages and they are often seen out at night.
Maybe our farm animals will be your interest, alpacas Gina, Bethany and Penguin, donkeys Chocolate and Coffee, cattle Paddy, Rocky and Monty. You can spend time in the paddocks with the animals or join in at feed time, to get 'up close and personal'. Your host is always happy to answer any questions you may have regarding farmlife here at Couria Creek. If you are very lucky you may be present for the birth of a baby alpaca - something very special indeed - or be on hand to help at shearing time. (See our 'Great Pics')
